Eastern Folk & Community Dance

Dancing in a circle or line creates a great feeling of harmony and community for all involved. Everyone is equal in a circle and nobody can get lost, everyone feels ‘solidarity’ in a line and all feel strength! The learning involved for community dances is generally minimal and the amount of energy that you put in is up to you… the dances are fun, simple and easy for all to learn!
Circle dancing is very therapeutic both physically and mentally, and can meet many different needs for different groups including: group bonding, establishing a sense of community, allowing ALL to join in (even those with disabilities or special needs). At KuchiTree we specialise in Eastern Circle and Line dances, and also have a small collection of ‘world’ community dances too.

Cara Amirah...

Middle Eastern Dance is estimated to be around 5000 years old, an ancient dance which is said to of originated from Egypt and is still widely practiced today by men, women and children in many varying styles all over the East.

Middle Eastern Dance is also known as Arabic Dance, Egyptian Dance, Raqs Sharqi and Oriental Dance to name a few.   The movements of Eastern dance are a combination of fluid spine, hip, torso, neck and ribcage movements, with varied, strong legwork & flowing expressive hands and arms which sometimes add emotion to the dance and also frame dance movements.
